I’ll be honest, I used to be a diet soda addict. I would easily polish off four or five cans a day, sometimes even larger bottles. As the years went on, I did cut back, but never quit. There was just something about the refreshing bubbles and caffeine that I couldn’t quite give up. I had heard people tell me how horrible diet soda was for you, but I didn’t really listen. I didn’t drink a lot of alcohol or smoke, so I figured one small vice was ok…But, after doing a little research myself, I learned I was horribly wrong. The side effects of diet soda are definitely real and they are not good. So, on my quest to live 80% cleaner, I decided I was going to stop drinking diet soda once and for all. I did not want the side effects of diet soda any longer and I was going to suffer through the withdrawal to finally kick the habit.
To be honest, I never really thought too much about what pan I used when I was cooking. Not that I cook all that much mind you, but when I did, I really didn’t worry about the vessel I was cooking in, I just worried about whether the food I was cooking was healthy and organic. After doing a little research, I realized that some of the pans that I use on a consistent basis were in fact leaching chemicals into my food and even into the air. The exact opposite effect I wanted to have on my health. I knew that there had to be a healthy non-stick pan alternative out there that could take the place of my toxic old one.

With all of that being said, I set out to find some of the best natural air freshener hacks on the web to make my house smell great – cheap and toxic free.

Are you one of those people that goes to bed early, has their head hit the pillow and is instantly off to dreaming heaven? Nope… me either. I can go a week or two where I think I’m sleeping fairly well, only to realize that when I actually sit down and think about it that I am probably only getting five or so hours of actual somewhat quality sleep. I can’t even remember the last time I went to bed, slept eight hours and woke up refreshed and energized. In my effort to try and live a cleaner, healthier life, I want to actually find out how to sleep better once and for all. Wouldn’t it be nice if there were a way to help keep the extra pounds off? A way that didn’t include hours and hours of grueling exercise or obsessively counting calories? As most of us know, it gets harder and harder to keep the pounds at bay the older we get. Our metabolism naturally slows down and we inevitably end up in cubicle dwelling jobs that create a sedentary lifestyle, while still maintaining, if not increasing, what we eat. That’s all depressing enough, but more and more research points to ways in which we can actually increase or speed up our metabolism, without taking weird diet pills or subjecting ourselves to various dieting regimens. You can actually learn how to boost your metabolism naturally, with a few easy lifestyle modifications.
Doesn’t it seem like some people are just naturally fit and healthy? It almost feels effortless for them…In reality, they have just adopted healthy lifestyle habits into their daily routines that make it easier to get and stay fit. Of course, they put in the work and watch what they eat, but maybe we can copy what they do to makes things just a little easier long-term. Here are a few healthy lifestyle habits of the fit and healthy that I’ve picked up on and hope to incorporate in my life.
First, I’d like to say that I am not a doctor and I do not play one on the internet. You should always consult your doctor about any medical issues you may be having or any treatments you are considering trying. Depression is no joke and can be a very crippling condition that oftentimes needs counseling or drugs for treatment, or a combination of the two. That being said, if you feel that you are struggling with a more mild case and/or are just feeling a little more down than usual, trying out some of the ways to brighten your mood below might be a great way to start treating mild depression naturally. Some of these natural remedies may be just enough to help get you back on track and avoid medication.
I know I am not alone when I have a complete disdain for hard water stains in my toilet. They are completely frustrating and seemingly impossible to get rid of. I have tried an endless number of toilet bowl cleaners, natural and not so much, but to no avail, nothing worked. It finally dawned on me that there has to be some way that I can scrape the stains off the bowl. After a little research I came upon the easiest hack ever to clean toilet bowl stains naturally – and it actually worked and worked well. I would absolutely give credit to the original person who came up with this ingenious hack, but I honestly don’t know who that person is. There are also a lot of people out there who probably already know this, but since I didn’t, I feel like I should share again.
Meditation is definitely the buzzword of the day. It seems like every program you turn on or magazine you read is touting the benefits of meditation – with good reason. Meditation has been shown to help with everything from stress, anxiety and panic attacks to quitting smoking and curing insomniacs. This is all great news, but can you use meditation for weight loss? Recent research seems to think you can. It makes sense if you think about it – the more relaxed and centered you are, the more in tune with your body you are, so the easier it should be to lose weight, right? I, myself would like to see how meditation and weight loss work together, so I decided to give it a try – for only 5 minutes a day. That is pretty much the extent to which I think I can handle before my brain will wonder in 20,000 different directions.
